“The stage is set in blue again while the artists are dressed in white linen, recreating the colours of the Finnish flag. Towards the end some orange light is also added. The backing group has been changed since the national final. The two male dancers do a routine to the left of the singers while a female violinist takes the centre stage. There is a shining white stone at the front of the stage for the accordionist to lean her foot against. Some dry ice smoke is on stage and wind machines also make an appearance. The two main artists Susan and Johanna are performing barefoot. The song has also been revamped for the semi-final and we now hear a slightly different arrangement.
This number is full of positive energy and the dance routine seems now well rehearsed. The group finally comes together in the middle for some sideways dancing like the kind often seen in Israeli entries. The second semi-final seems to get a much needed injection of energy from the Finnish entry after a row of more sedate songs.”

“The two ladies (there’s no way the could be mistaken for “girls” in the close-up shots) who make up Kuunkuiskaajat, go through the motions (pun intended) while a female violist and two athletic young men engage in some pointless shape throwing and childish gymnastics. The song is a little jauntier than before but it doesn’t take you long to realise that someone wrote a 30 second “song” and simply repeated it six times in different keys to fill the three minutes. The staging is a pale blue version of what Slovakia had, but without anything of the same impact. Another non-qualifier.

PETE:
“The arrangement seems to have been ‘oomphed’ up a bit, there seems to be more life in it, so I think that this helps the performance. There seems to be a strong rolling drumbeat throughout the song now. We are also getting the obligatory overhead stage camera shots, they seem to have these in almost every song so far. Overall, a very energetic Finnish performance. They all seem to be having fun onstage. Vocals were great and song arrangment, to me, has definitely improved. A great Finnish rehearsal.”

ANDREW:
“This is a very pleasant folksy song and I really enjoyed this rehearsal. It seems to have a bit more ooomph that I remember. This was vocally very good too and I could consider this as a qualifier now.”
