The winner of the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, Niamh Kavanagh returns to the stage for Ireland with her song It’s for you. Honouring Irish tradition the stage is first lit in emerald green, changing into orange. There are some patterned netting suspended behind the stage for Ireland. Dry ice smoke rises from the floor. Niamh has four backing singers supporting her at the back of the stage. It is a classy and calm general feel to this powerful ballad.
Niamh Kavanagh loves the camera and her smile oozes warmth of life experience. Her pitch perfect and powerful voice should go a long way towards restoring the Irish Eurovision credentials.

Pete:
The stage starts off green, and Niamh’s hair looks golden due to
She has 2 male and 2 female backing singers. Set has a excellent background that looks very effective when the stage colour changes to red and then to yellow..
Vocally she was great, she was a bit strained on the last note on one of the performances but fine apart from that. Lots of discussions among the Irish delegation in between performances. It feels like she is holding back which is the right thing to do at this stage.
She has a wind machine as well which is very effective.
Overall, an excellent first rehearsal. As an Irishman, I feel a lot happier than I did after Ireland’s first rehearsal in Moscow last year.

Keith:
I’m delighted to report that Niamh is in good voice. She gave 100% on the sound check and one other run through but pulled out of the final note on a couple of rehearsals. The backing vocals are lower in the mix and are much better tha I heard them before. The staging which starts with green tints goes to a lovely warm orange glow which matches Niamh’s colouring.
I do like the podium which Niamh used today, but I would like it to be used but hidden for the show. Either extend the dress over it or use dry ice to hide it. There are too many close up of Niamh in the early parts and there are some facial expressions which suggest Niamh isn’t 100% comfortable. She’s also stuggling with the full on wind machine at the end. Keep it, but blow it diagonally I think.
We’re qualifying and that’s all I’m saying for the moment…

Simply outstanding. A true diva singing perfectly and for sure it bids for the trophy in my humble opinion. The voice, the tune which wants to make you cry and the lyrics which bring hope are leaving everyone speechless. Well done Niamh, all the best.

You cannot find anything negative to such an artist. The dark opening, helps the camera work to make this entry a spectacular ballad which will get for sure the juries to its side. I am sorry but this is flawless and in no way cannot loose the trophy!
